Tatum Bell is back in Denver and it will only be a matter of time before he becomes the 27th player to start a game this year for the Broncos at tailback. With the combo of Peyton Hillis, an injured Selvin Young, unheralded PJ Pope and newcomer Michael Haynes, Tatum Bell actually presents a chance at consistency at the position. He should be #1 on all waiver requests this week.
Shaun of the Not So Dead
I never thought Shaun Alexander would ever find himself fantasy relevant again but 200 carries in 9 games for a starting RB who's now dealing with a sprained MCL and voila! There you go, instant fantasy relevance.
Hedge Your Betts
Not so fast. Ladell Betts is looking like a good bet to return this week from his own injury so we may be looking at a split time share this week and possibly next while Portis rests up. If you're a Portis owner and miss one, get the other.
Thig Life!
Tyler Thigpen is winning the hearts of Chiefs fans and may be soon winning some fantasy leagues. Ok, maybe not, but he's on a roll and you better roster him just in case. He might come in handy as the Chiefs are going to a strictly run and gun formation and they have the necessary receiving options (Bowe, Gonzalez, Bradley) to pull it off. Add in the return of LJ and the threat of a running game and Thigpen could even get better.
Hill Street Rules
The Shaun Hill to Jason Hill connection could be potent in small doses down the stretch. I realize folks probably prefer Josh Morgan if you had to pick a Niners receiver, but Jason Hill was all over the field and catching everything thrown his way Monday Night. Grab him now before he is a top claim next week.
Billy the Kid
Remember how excited you were prior to the draft at the prospect of Jeremy Shockey on the Saints? That was awesome. Now drop him and pick up Billy Miller. Shocks has spent more time in the trainers room than the field and even when he does play, he's not playing to the level of Billy Miller has been.
Rhodes Warrior
Joseph Addai has been one pig pile of disappointment this year. The last two games he's been healthy but has been steadily outplayed by the wily veteran. Dominic Rhodes is running with more authority and minus the hesitation Addai has displayed since his return. Who knows if Dungy will make a switch, but you may want to grab Rhodes if you have the room just in case.
