Hot Reads: Let's Go Camping - Week 2


Every Friday, The EndzoneView will bring you a list of all the injuries, hold out updates, depth chart changes and more of the past week of training camp for all 32 teams.

Here we go:

Arizona Cardinals
-WR Anquan Boldin is scheduled for a MRI on his ailing knee sometime today after missing practices
-The Arizona Republic is reporting that RB Tim Hightower is looking good, but he has yet to run with the first team
-RB Edgerrin James doesn't believe turning 30 will cause a decline in his production (his stats say otherwise)
-The East Valley Tribune reports that QB Matt Leinart has a greater grasp of the playbook this season as opposed to last season

Atlanta Falcons
-the QB battle rages on between Matt Ryan, DJ Shockley and Joey Harrington. As of right now, that's probably how the depth chart looks.
-The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that breakout WR Roddy White is embarrassing the Falcons hapless secondary
-DT Grady Jackson has followed Coach Mike Smith to Atlanta

Baltimore Ravens
-S Ed Reed is nursing a shoulder injury, giving rookie Haruki Nakamura a chance to shine in camp
-The offensive line is already suffering some major injuries as Jared Gaither and Adam Terry are both out with ankle sprains
-Althought RB Ray Rice is impressing, head coach Cam Cameron tells the Baltimore Sun he expects RB Willis McGahee to be his workhorse

Buffalo Bills
-LT Jason Peters is racking up the fines. The Bills will not negotiate until he reports.
-Rookie WR James Hardy has rarely ran with the first team thus far
-RB Fred Jackson is sharing first team reps with Marshawn Lynch solidifying his primary backup status
-WR Roscoe Parrish is ahead of Josh Reed as the slot receiver
-WR Lee Evans is currently in negotiations with the Bills regarding a contract extension

Carolina Panthers
-RB DeAngelo Williams is running with the first team as Jonathan Stewart gets adapted to training camp
-speaking of Jonthan Stewart, he is fully practicing and is feeling no ill effects from his toe surgery
-WR DJ Hackett and WR Mushin Muhammad are rotating work with the first team
-LB Thomas Davis has been moved from the strongside to the weakside

Chicago Bears
-The Chicago Sun Times reports the Bears are utilizing alot of double TE formations. Since TE Greg Olsen is probably their best receiver, this makes the most sense.
-newly acquired RB Kevin Jones could begin the season on the PUP list
-the starting WR's appear to be Devin Hester and Brandon Lloyd

Cincinatti Benagls
-The Cincinatti Enquirer believes RB Rudi Johnson is rejuvenated after an injury plagued 2007
-The Bengals have promised to take a look at WR Chad Johnson's contract after this season
-DE Antwan Odom sprained his foot but head coach Marvin Lewis expects him to be ready for Week 1
-The Bengals wavied RB Kenny Irons
-the holdout of rookie LB Keith Rivers continues

Cleveland Browns
-LB Antwan Peek will miss the rest of training camp after undergoing knee surgery per the Cleveland Plain Dealer
-QB Brady Quinn is being pegged as a game manager per the Akron Beacon Journal
-WR Donte Stallworth is back at practice after tweaking his hamstring, but by the time you read this, he probably hurt it again
-TE Kellen Winslow is practicing fully

Dallas Cowboys
-DB Terrance Newman will miss a few weeks with a serious groin injury
-Jerry Jones doesn't want to trade for Buccaneer QB Chris Simms
-Neither Sam Hurd or Miles Austin are separating themselves to be the third wide receiver

Denver Broncos
-S John Lynch was released
-RB Michael Pittman will now be known as FB Michael Pittman
-DT DeWayne Robertson is feeling good so far despite his balky knees
-the Broncos are anxiously awaiting news on WR Brandon Marshall's expected suspension

Detroit Lions
-LB Ernie Sims suffered a bone bruise and will miss the first pre-season game
-WR Shaun McDonald is out until the third pre-season game
-QB Drew Stanton is currently third on the depth chart

Green Bay Packers
-by the time you read this, QB Brett Favre either showed up to training camp or was traded or claimed a bunch of money to stay retired
-coaches are talking up the play of RB Brandon Jackson as RB Ryan Grant's holdout continues on

Houston Texans
-One time fantasy sleeper RB Mike Bell has signed on
-RB Chris Brown is already hurt
-RB Chris Taylor will now be known as FB Chris Taylor
-so far so good for WR Andre Johnson who is practicing fully

Indianapolis Colts
-As expected, RB Dominic Rhodes is the number two running back
-so good so far for WR Marvin Harrison
-there is not yet a time table for the return of S Bob Sanders

Jacksonville Jaguars
-the holdout of rookie DE Derrick Harvey continues
-WR Reggie Williams had arthroscopic knee surgery and is questionable to start the season
-C Brad Meester is hurt again and is questionable to start the season
-WR Dennis Northcutt is nursing a sore back

Kansas City Chiefs
-LB Pat Thomas is currently ahead of LB Demorrio Williams on the depth chart
-rookie WR Will Franklin is pushing WR Devan Darling for the second starting WR spot

Miami Dolphins
-former Cowboys QB Quincy Carter is visiting Miami......yikes
-rookie RB Jalen Parmele is locking down the third spot on the running back depth chart
-the South Florida Sun Sentinel feels Josh McCown is the best QB
-Ronnie Brown is practicing without a knee brace

Minnesota Vikings
-DE Jared Allen is seeing some time at tight end near the goal line
-Brad Childress has revealed that RB Chester Taylor will be plenty involved in the offense
New England Patriots
-The Patriots signed RB Lamont Jordan to an already crowded backfield

New Orleans Saints
-WR Devery Henderson is already hurt with a pulled hamstring
-rookie DT Sedrick Ellis has finally signed
-RB Deuce McAllister had a precautionary MRI but no damage was revealed
-in a related story, the Saints coaching staff reportedly feels comfortable depending on second year RB Pierre Thomas if needed

New York Giants
-RB Ahmad Bradshaw has avoided a NFL suspension
-WR Plaxico Burress is still out with a sore ankle
-The New York Daily News reports that rookie WR Mario Manningham is struggling
-WR Steve Smith is dealing with a sore groin

New York Jets
-Chad Pennington is leading Kellen Clemmons in the battle to be the starting QB
-the above note is obviously leading to the Brett Favre to Jets rumors
-WR Laveranues Coles is suffering from a thigh injury
-TE Chris Baker is still on the PUP list
-rookie TE Dustin Keller is being split out wide and is looking like a strong bet to be the Jets third receiving option
-DT Kris Jenkins weighed in at 359 lbs, a whopping 30 lbs less than last season

Oakland Raiders
-QB Jamarcus Russell banged his elbow on RB Darren McFadden's helmet but is back at practice
-LB Thomas Howard nearly beat RB Darren McFadden in a foot race
-Head coach Lane Kiffin is impressed with WR Ronald Curry

Philadelphia Eagles
-RB Lorenzo Booker is looking like a lock to be RB Brian Westbrook's handcuff
-OG Shaun Andrews is not at camp due to some undisclosed personal problem, not a contract dispute

Pittsburgh Steelers
-The Steelers lost P Daniel Sepulveda to an ACL injury but quickly claimed Paul Ernster off waivers
-OC Bruce Arians is employing even more no huddle packages for QB Ben Roethlisberger

San Diego Chargers
-RB's Darren Sproles and rookie Jacob Hester are battling for the backup spot
-WR Vincent Jackson is picking up where he left off and is impressing in camp

San Francisco 49ers
-WR Ashley Lelie is already hurt with a calf strain
-JT O'Sullivan is back in the mix to be the starting QB
-RB Michael Robinson will be out 3-5 weeks after having his knee scoped

Seattle Seahawks
-Logan Payne has steadily moved up the depth chart and will battle Courtney Taylor to be the third receiver
-RB TJ Duckett will now be known as FB TJ Duckett

St. Louis Rams
-Guess who's not at camp yet? RB Steven Jackson
-at his second day of training camp, rookie WR Donnie Avery fell awkwardly and suffered a crack in his pelvic bone that will keep him out for at least two weeks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
-QB Jeff Garcia was carter off the field but the injury was later revealed to be a calf strain
-QB Chris Simms is still a Buccaneer
-WR Joey Galloway is out with a strained groin

Tennesseee Titans
-QB Byron Leftwich paid a visit to Nashville but left without a contract
-The Mike Williams experiment is over as the Titans parted ways with the wide receiver bust
-OC Mike Heimerdinger believes rookie RB Chris Johnson can be an every down back
-DT Albert Haynesworth has signed his franchise tag and is in camp

Washington Redskins
-the list of players not playing this Sunday is growing every day: WR Malcolm Kelley, S Laron Landry, RB Ladell Betts and RB Clinton Portis just to name a few
-DE Erasmus James isn't close to practicing yet
-CB Carlos Rogers is a full participant at camp

Once again, we just wanna say: Nice work. Tracking training camps is harder than it seems it should need to be in the year 2008. There doesn't seem to be indepth coverage of every team in one place (except this one.) Thanks again for helping us keep up.
