Let The Games Begin: Chad Goes To Camp

Chad Johnson, predictably, backed off his demands that he would never wear a Bengals jersey again, and decided to show up at the team’s facility yesterday to avoid being fined. While he did show up, he didn’t practice with the team, reportedly blaming a lingering ankle injury suffered late last season. No one was buying it. Agent Drew Rosenhaus was trotted out to declare the severity of the injury in an attempt to give some credence to the obvious bogus injury, even suggesting the Bengals were discussing to waste a trainers and doctors time to have it scoped. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/06/12/rosenhaus-says-chad-has-ankle-injury/ The Bengals confirmed Chad had complained of an injury, but was told it was his back that was preventing him from practicing http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=6837

All of this was this morning and evidently something happened between then and now, because Chad is finally on the practice field and catching passes from Carson Palmer, who started off the morning by saying he wouldn't be talking about Chad anymore. In between, the Bengals announced they extended defensive lineman Domata Peko to a 5 year, $29.3 million extension http://beta.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?category=blog09&plckController=Blog&plckScript=blogScript&plckElementId=blogDest&plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&plckPostId=Blog%3ac78cbe8a-2b47-436d-a33e-623f9b65de7cPost%3a7560dffb-ec7e-4c5f-b869-29732465c0bf&sid=sitelife.cincinnati.com, and I’m sure Chad Johnson was the first to congratulate him on his new deal, you know, because he’s such a good team player. It’s just the first full day, and I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
