Bluff Called, Chad Folds

Chad Johnson tried to threaten his way out of Cincinnati declaring prior to the draft per nfl.com that he was “sticking to his guns” about sitting out the season unless he was traded. Since draft weekend came and went, as did a couple of trade proposals that were promptly rebuffed by Bengals management, Chad has been conspicuously quiet. Head coach Marvin Lewis publicly called out his star receiver to be a man of his word and sit out the season.

Despite agent Drew Rosenhaus attempts to publicly pressure the Bengals to make a trade, Chad Johnson came to the realization that he wasn’t going to be playing for another team and the only thing left to do, was to try and make nice with the only organization he’s played for. Following reports that he owes thousands of dollars in property taxes on his home and facing the realization of $14,000 a day fines, it shouldn’t have been that hard of a decision for Chad to make.

When posed the question by ESPN the Magazine if he plans on coming back to the Bengals, Chad responded “Of course I am, I may be crazy, but I’m not stupid”. Both points will be fully tested when Johnson shows up for training camp. So let the distractions begin and the media circus commence.
